EB-119SP

How to measure refractive index

Eb 119sp

EB-119SP

The refractive index is measured using a refractometer. The refractive index is dependent on wavelength (usually set at 589nm) and temperature. Most laboratory refractometers have the ability to measure the refractive index and different temperatures and usually measures the liquid index.

EB-119SP is a high temperature resistant, low viscosity epoxy with a built in indicator for users to know when the epoxy is cured. When liquid and uncured, EB-119SP is a clear and transparent. Once fully cured, EB-119SP changes color dark amber indicating the epoxy has cured. EB-119SP is a USP-Class VI certified epoxy. EB-119SP has a refractive index of 1.569 at 589nm and is has a very high transmittance at >98% Near Infrared (NIR) wavelengths EB-119SP is used for sealing fiber into ferrules, transmitting light in the optical pathway of NIR (600nm – 1800nm). EB-119SP is also used in petrochemical/oil drilling fiber optic sensors, resisting >200°C field conditions.
